My spectacularly talented longtime friend Izzy finally posts a poem online in public

Greyhound watched
Sparrow explore its surroundings. Mastiff lunged
for scavenging Rat. We subpoenaed God, demanding he
submit work orders for the storms
so we could get
our money back. The Oracle of Decatur breathes
sewer grates and boiled shrimp.
She knows this isn’t
ancient Greece and why God acts
the way he does.
She knows coming from kissing
secretive felons on sharp rocks
won’t heal the hole in my soul.
The Oracle knows where
your go-cup will end up and when
the last runaway will call home.
